• Week Fourteen Coronavirus Hiatus: Enough.

Week fourteen…. are we still even on a hiatus here? Everything is reopening with careful measures and we all need to adjust to a “new normal”. We will not wake up and have this be over… which I guess I sort of thought would happen when I started this post series fourteen weeks ago. So no, this isn’t a hiatus anymore; it’s the new way of being. Gosh, that’s intense. This past weekend the fatigue of the past 14 weeks of events just caught up to me – I just couldn’t do anything. I have been so focused on keeping my household afloat in every aspect… keep it running, keep…

  • Week Eleven Corona Virus Hiatus: Entertaining Outside

Week ELEVEN. So things are shifting a lot. States are opening up, social distancing still stands and masks are encouraged if not mandatory; but stay at home orders are lifting. Perhaps there is a little light at the end of the tunnel. I still can not quite picture what the Summer will look like, but I imagine we will get into a groove and hopefully be able to socialize with a few families. I read this NPR article on how to assess risk this Summer and found it to be helpful, good common sense. So… it looks like when (if) we will be entertaining, it will be outside. I rounded…

  • A Few Random Things That Have Been Invaluable During The Quarantine…

A few random things that have been invaluable during the quarantine… These don’t quite qualify for the “This Month’s Favorite” post because they aren’t that “fun”, but they have been totally invaluable during this quarantine!  I have long wanted to make the switch to less plastics and paper products and this quarantine has pushed me to be a little more proactive! Also… cleaning. Who else is in disbelief about the amount of dust that is in their house??? I am constantly cleaning. It must be because of all of us being in the house all day every day… So, a few things that I am loving!   Bona Floor Cleaner…

  • Week Eight Coronavirus Hiatus: The Corona Kitchen File

Week EIGHT. That feels really bananas. That means, in the house, we have had weeks and weeks of cooking. Breakfast, lunch & dinner. We have only had a handful of take out nights- those nights really feel like a vacation… and we should probably do it more. We have already discussed the ins and outs of getting groceries delivered a few weeks ago… I think it has gotten easier to get everything you need delivered! (Read here: Week Five Coronavirus Hiatus: Grocery Games) I have been receiving a lot of questions about what I am cooking and pleas for ideas.  So here we go… this time has given me the…

Time to get on it! I have rounded up some great gift ideas for that wonderful Mom in your life… and Moms feel free to forward this on to those that love you!      Fiddle Leaf Plant – Love the idea of pretty plant that will have a more permanent spot rather than just flowers… but you can certainly do flowers too!  Ariel Gordon Necklace – I recently discovered this…

  • Week Seven Coronavirus Hiatus: Small Interior Updates

Let’s keep this week light. Last week was long and heavy, at least it felt that way in this house. Here are a few things to perhaps brighten your home a bit as we head into Week Seven.  Last week we focused on the outside. I am SO grateful for the sunny day yesterday; we were outside in our “new room” all day. So let’s focus on the inside. Nothing major, although I’ve been meaning to finish a “Indoor Refresh” post since the start of this… maybe I will save that for the two month mark. When you spend so much time in your house you see things that perhaps…

  • Week Six Coronavirus Hiatus: Let’s Build Another Room

We live in a sweet house. We’ve been here for 12 years and always planned on moving to a slightly bigger property at some point… especially as the kids grow. Man, do we need to do that. The comfort of a house changes dramatically when the entire household is home… 24/7. With that in mind we decided it was time to amp up our patio space so we could have “another room.” We had been holding off on purchasing anything with the plan of moving on the horizon… but when we uncovered our wooden outdoor dining table and found it was rotting… we knew it was time. I did a…

  • Week Five Coronavirus Hiatus: Grocery Games

Okay. Week FIVE. I know we have a long way to go, but how crazy is that? I haven’t been in a store for two whole weeks (yesterday), and that was actually just a pick up, not even a full shop. Since obtaining groceries seems to be my main stress point, I figured I would write up what is working for us. That and I have had a lot of requests for tips and tricks on the matter! Let me be clear, I am WINGING IT,  but whatever, it’s working.  On the note of procuring groceries being my main stress point. It is layered – as all of our reactions…

  • Week Four Coronavirus Hiatus: Cut Yourself Some Slack

Week four, that seems really unbelievable. I read a great NY Times article last week about relaxing on the “To-Do List”; easing up on the need to feel productive. I couldn’t agree more. We have enough pressure and stress on ourselves right now, do we REALLY need to have our house in perfect order too? Learn a new language (I laughed out loud)? Or learn how to make puff pastry from scratch?   If those things relax you then by all means become multilingual and clean out every last closet. Some days cleaning helps me, some days I just want to binge watch TV after we’ve completed our eLearning because…
