• Getting It Together: Kitchen Organization

I should maybe have titled this post “Grief Made Me Want To Throw Out Everything In My House”… An interesting byproduct of the grieving process (for me) has been the overwhelming urge to purge and organize. I understand it is a control thing. When you have your life shift so violently and lose someone that important so suddenly you are put in a place where you are grasping to have control of something. “What can I control?” Well, I can certainly control how my house looks, how we live in it, how we use it and what we are surrounded by. Also what I wear, because let’s face it, that…

Memorial Day weekend always has plenty of sales so if you need something it is a good time to pop into stores or scour the internet! The lovely company, Serena & Lily is having a 20% off sale! They are known for their relaxed beach vibe while still being tailored and sophisticated. Their stores are SO peaceful… I am on a MAJOR purge/reorganization kick… more on that next week, stay tuned… but that also means I am taking a hard look at my beloved house that we have been in for almost 11 years (!!!). We have done a lot of renovations and work over the years but not copious…

  • March Favorites…

I can not believe it is the end of March. The temperature is actually starting to rise. The birds are chirping,  the flowers are trying to peek out and Spring Break is around the corner! I am pumped to open the windows and let the fresh air in! This month was chock full of fevers, viruses, bugs and antibiotics for this household. It stunk. • Cutting The Cord…

Cable. Do you still have it? This seems to be a constant conversation on the local moms’ message boards around here and even came up the other night at a dinner out with friends. It is just so expensive. Do we really need it? Do you really watch all those channels? The answer is no. The NY Times just recently had an article referencing how much of an energy draw those cable DVR boxes are. Seriously, they suck more energy than one can imagine. In 2011 it was reported that “a single DVR unit chewed through as much as 275 kilowatt-hours per year, more than half as much as some Energy…

Turtleneck is perfect for this freezing weather…

  • FIELD + SUPPLY

Over Columbus weekend we ventured up to Kingston, New York to the FIELD + SUPPLY: A Modern Maker’s Craft Fair. I am trying to stay busy and we love finding new artists, designers and cool new things (obviously). This activity checked all the boxes. First, the Hutton Brickyard is a really fantastic venue. I could see this as an awesome spot for a wedding or even a blow out birthday party… they have “Glamping”!!! A band was playing in the background, there were lots of food offerings, craft beer and cocktails, fire pits and lively games of corn hole; it all created a festival atmosphere. There were a good amount…

  • Summer Hair Savior

Summer hair. Humidity, salt, sun, water, chlorine… all those ponytails. Summer can really do a number on your hair. My hair was like straw last week… all my usual products just were not cutting it. I went back to some brands I had used in the past and did a little research.  I finally found it, my “Summer Hair Savior”!  Bumble and Bumble’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil line, described as “a divine dose of moisture”, it truly is just that. I use the Shampoo, Conditioner and Oil pictured above. It stops humidity frizz in its tracks, allows me to have perfect beachy, wavy hair and it also helped with the perfect smooth blow…
