Week Four Coronavirus Hiatus: Cut Yourself Some Slack

Week four, that seems really unbelievable.

I read a great NY Times article last week about relaxing on the “To-Do List”; easing up on the need to feel productive. I couldn’t agree more. We have enough pressure and stress on ourselves right now, do we REALLY need to have our house in perfect order too? Learn a new language (I laughed out loud)? Or learn how to make puff pastry from scratch?

If those things relax you then by all means become multilingual and clean out every last closet. Some days cleaning helps me, some days I just want to binge watch TV after we’ve completed our eLearning because I’m just exhausted… neither is wrong. It’s all a roller coaster.

I have a “To-Do List” of 91 things to get our house into tip top shape… I have made it through 5 things, 5! I am busier now than I was before… how is this possible?! We really thought we’d be able to get all of these things done now that we were home 24/7. In reality we are just trying to find a new balance, keep the calm for our kids and not to have a full blown panic attack about getting the grocery delivery window (me, totally me).

So, I am making a concerted effort to cut myself some slack, everyone in my house. This is not a time for perfection. We need a little grace here.

Do a face mask or a hair mask (will link my favorites below), bake something really easy and delightful (I have rounded up all my best recipes with bananas, why do we all have so many bananas), read a book or one with you’re child (or FaceTime your nieces & nephews, God children, grandchildren or whomever else could use a story!) and put your feet up and watch something!

Best things to make with over ripe bananas…obviously the number one is Thad’s Banana Bread, Easy Banana Blueberry Muffins, Banana White Bean Muffins or Dark Chocolate Breakfast Pudding

A few easy dinners just because… 30 Minute Pork Ragu, Sweet & Sour Meatballs, Tuscan Kale Soup, Chicken & Sweet Potato Soup  and Wooden Spoon Sloppy Joes

Good luck this week, take a deep breath, be kind to yourself and stay safe!
