• Summer Fashion: One Piece Swimsuits

Okay! Sorry for the pause in posts, I needed a bit of a breather! Those 3+ months of Covid Quarantine really caught up with me and I just hit a wall! (I spoke about that here) It is officially Summer so let’s focus on some fun and relaxation! We are overdue here for a fashion post and swimsuits are a pivotal part of Summer fashion! Focusing on one pieces… I want something that is fashionable but still appropriate for chasing kids, building sand castles and jumping in the water! I just ordered #15 and am contemplating #4 , I have heard it is the BEST suit!    1. / 2.…

  • Week Fourteen Coronavirus Hiatus: Enough.

Week fourteen…. are we still even on a hiatus here? Everything is reopening with careful measures and we all need to adjust to a “new normal”. We will not wake up and have this be over… which I guess I sort of thought would happen when I started this post series fourteen weeks ago. So no, this isn’t a hiatus anymore; it’s the new way of being. Gosh, that’s intense. This past weekend the fatigue of the past 14 weeks of events just caught up to me – I just couldn’t do anything. I have been so focused on keeping my household afloat in every aspect… keep it running, keep…

  • Week Four Coronavirus Hiatus: Cut Yourself Some Slack

Week four, that seems really unbelievable. I read a great NY Times article last week about relaxing on the “To-Do List”; easing up on the need to feel productive. I couldn’t agree more. We have enough pressure and stress on ourselves right now, do we REALLY need to have our house in perfect order too? Learn a new language (I laughed out loud)? Or learn how to make puff pastry from scratch?   If those things relax you then by all means become multilingual and clean out every last closet. Some days cleaning helps me, some days I just want to binge watch TV after we’ve completed our eLearning because…

  • Week Two Coronavirus Hiatus: Gratitude

Okay, here we are… rolling in to week two of this thing. It will be be a lot longer, we know that. That is OKAY. We are all OKAY. I know I have spoken about gratitude a lot in the past 18 months. The shifts that happened in my life after I lost my brother… the changes in my perspective are incredibly helpful here. This is a scary time. We are scared about what the future holds for our communities, small businesses and our country as a whole. We have to remember just how lucky we are as a small little family. My family, my immediate family & extended family,…

  • Week One Coronavirus Hiatus

OKAY. Here we go, the first full week for us on our little Coronavirus Hiatus is here. The weekend went smoothly… we are fully stocked (did you read this post?) and are staying in (please read THIS ONE). I know I have been preachy (well for weeks now?) but let me give you one little glimpse as to why. Meet my good friend, Fiona. Please read this article she wrote on being the mom of a immunocompromised son. We adore this family and knowing them has truly opened my eyes to the importance of being aware of those around you and how your minor actions can have a bigger impact on…

  • Bermuda: Travel Guide Update

We love Bermuda. I have been traveling to Bermuda for vacations since I was a baby so it feels like home to me and I love that my kids now feel that way too. I published a travel guide last year that has all the important information of where to eat, where to stay and of course what to do. I am happy to report I have some great additions to add to that list! (Read the original too!) Matt and I went out for Valentine’s dinner to Barracuda Grill which I mentioned before… but I forgot just how good it is! Easily the best restaurant on the Island! Barracuda…

  • 2019 in the rear view, Welcome 2020!

Happy New Year! I hope you have all gotten back on track after the holiday run and are ready for 2020! I am excited to see what this year will bring and how I can continue to grow this space. Thank you so very much for all the support last year; it is invaluable! 2019 was an interesting year for me, lots of loss and lots of growth as I discussed in my post on turning 40… oh yes and I turned 40. I am happy to leave it all in the rear view and march ahead into the new decade with what I have learned. First I need to…

  • My Holiday Wishlist

I have had lots of requests to know what I would like to see under the tree this Holiday season. To be honest… not much! I don’t feel like there are many things I NEED… okay, slippers, I need new slippers. That said, there are a few things I have been eyeing… Please note: A Modern Housewife LLC has affiliate relationships with multiple brands. • Forty.

Forty. Here it is. That number. But that’s all it is, a number. I can tell you I do not feel forty years old. Some days I still feel like I am eight and cooking in the kitchen with my mom, sixteen and soaking up lazy summers, somewhere in my twenties running around a city or lost in the blur of my thirties. Ah, the thirties really were a blur of babies and acclimating to suburbia. My thirties shifted. My easy existence vanished when I lost my brother at thirty eight. Forced changes. Thirty nine was a year of loss for me. The loss of my dear brother, loss of…
