• Week Fourteen Coronavirus Hiatus: Enough.

Week fourteen…. are we still even on a hiatus here? Everything is reopening with careful measures and we all need to adjust to a “new normal”. We will not wake up and have this be over… which I guess I sort of thought would happen when I started this post series fourteen weeks ago. So no, this isn’t a hiatus anymore; it’s the new way of being. Gosh, that’s intense. This past weekend the fatigue of the past 14 weeks of events just caught up to me – I just couldn’t do anything. I have been so focused on keeping my household afloat in every aspect… keep it running, keep…

  • The White Tee Shirt

Ah, the white tee shirt. Much like a pair of jeans (or denim cutoffs), it can be hard to find a good one. You don’t want it to be see-through, but also don’t want it to be too thick. Slightly slouchy, soft and definitely comfortable; that is what you want! I did a round up of a few white tees that I have and love and also ones that look like they would be great! I just ordered two new white tees from Everlane (#1) and am super impressed with the quality and the fit! I also love #2 from Lululemon. I don’t have this exact Gap tee (#5), but…

  • A Few Random Things That Have Been Invaluable During The Quarantine…

A few random things that have been invaluable during the quarantine… These don’t quite qualify for the “This Month’s Favorite” post because they aren’t that “fun”, but they have been totally invaluable during this quarantine!  I have long wanted to make the switch to less plastics and paper products and this quarantine has pushed me to be a little more proactive! Also… cleaning. Who else is in disbelief about the amount of dust that is in their house??? I am constantly cleaning. It must be because of all of us being in the house all day every day… So, a few things that I am loving!   Bona Floor Cleaner…

  • Week Seven Coronavirus Hiatus: Small Interior Updates

Let’s keep this week light. Last week was long and heavy, at least it felt that way in this house. Here are a few things to perhaps brighten your home a bit as we head into Week Seven.  Last week we focused on the outside. I am SO grateful for the sunny day yesterday; we were outside in our “new room” all day. So let’s focus on the inside. Nothing major, although I’ve been meaning to finish a “Indoor Refresh” post since the start of this… maybe I will save that for the two month mark. When you spend so much time in your house you see things that perhaps…

  • Week Six Coronavirus Hiatus: Let’s Build Another Room

We live in a sweet house. We’ve been here for 12 years and always planned on moving to a slightly bigger property at some point… especially as the kids grow. Man, do we need to do that. The comfort of a house changes dramatically when the entire household is home… 24/7. With that in mind we decided it was time to amp up our patio space so we could have “another room.” We had been holding off on purchasing anything with the plan of moving on the horizon… but when we uncovered our wooden outdoor dining table and found it was rotting… we knew it was time. I did a…

  • Week One Coronavirus Hiatus

OKAY. Here we go, the first full week for us on our little Coronavirus Hiatus is here. The weekend went smoothly… we are fully stocked (did you read this post?) and are staying in (please read THIS ONE). I know I have been preachy (well for weeks now?) but let me give you one little glimpse as to why. Meet my good friend, Fiona. Please read this article she wrote on being the mom of a immunocompromised son. We adore this family and knowing them has truly opened my eyes to the importance of being aware of those around you and how your minor actions can have a bigger impact on…

  • Let’s Be Prepared…

So, this seems like a sort of ridiculous thing to write about but I have received SO MANY requests about how to stock up a pantry/fridge/freezer should we end up with a Coronavirus 2 week quarantine in the NY Metro area (or anywhere else for that matter). You can read more about the Coronavirus here on the CDC website. Now,  let me be VERY clear… I do not think we are about to experience some sort of zombie apocalypse, but I do feel like there is a significant chance that our schools will shut down for two weeks and we will be housebound. 1000 people are already quarantined in neighboring…

  • My Most Used Pots & Pans

For the past two weeks I have been part of several conversations about pots, pans and dutch ovens. Specifically, what the best ones are and what I use and love. Another friend asked me again this morning and I figured it was time for a blog post! I think it is the time of year. We are all getting ready to cook feasts for the holidays and maybe hibernate for Winter and crack open some of those cookbooks. The truth is you don’t need that many pots and pans to create amazing meals. You just need a few spectacular ones (note: not all need to be expensive!), four to be…

  • Getting It Together: Kitchen Organization

I should maybe have titled this post “Grief Made Me Want To Throw Out Everything In My House”… An interesting byproduct of the grieving process (for me) has been the overwhelming urge to purge and organize. I understand it is a control thing. When you have your life shift so violently and lose someone that important so suddenly you are put in a place where you are grasping to have control of something. “What can I control?” Well, I can certainly control how my house looks, how we live in it, how we use it and what we are surrounded by. Also what I wear, because let’s face it, that…
