• Fall Fashion: Foliage Color Palette

Thank you so much to everyone who expressed such kind words after this week’s earlier post… it is so appreciated. Now, on a lighter note, because I have to keep the rest of this week light… I love scrolling through a new season’s fashion… Lately I have noticed that there are so many pieces that appeal to me that are the colors of Fall foliage. Not my typical color palette but all the beautiful warm tones make you think of pumpkin picking, apple cider and raking leaves. I love it all paired with denim, navy and ivory! Below find the pieces that I am loving in this foliage color palette!…

  • Fall Fashion: The Sweatshirt Dress

One of my favorite new pieces for Fall is undoubtedly the Sweatshirt Dress (I own #1 pictured above!). Incredibly comfortable and cozy while still looking quite put together. I pair mine with sandals while it is still warm and will move on to flats and sneakers and then booties with tights/leggings. There are some great options out there… some high end and very excitingly some really cute options for under $100! • Summer of the jumpsuit…

I have been loving jumpsuits since last Fall and I can safely say that they are officially the the easiest outfit of the Summer. Like with a dress, you can put together an outfit in no time; they are so simple to dress up or down. Unlike a dress, you can pretty much do anything in a jumpsuit… run after a small child, easily sit in the grass or the sand and most importantly (at least to me!) you can ride a bike in a jumpsuit! (Okay, maybe I would not ride a bike in #10, but it is my mode of summer transportation most nights!) Cropped, wide leg, prints,…

  • Boca Beach Club and What I Really Packed For Spring Break!

After our Fall and Winter we really wanted to get away for a proper Spring Break. We needed some sunshine and some relaxation and not much else. But where to go? We rely heavily on Bermuda for getaways (why wouldn’t we!) but a friend recommended The Boca Beach Club, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel, when we couldn’t find anything else that peaked our interest.  Amazingly they had availability and the flights into West Palm Beach weren’t astronomical when we went to book… only two weeks ahead. Sold. What was appealing about the property is it is actually three hotels under one umbrella. You have access to the restaurants and activities at…

  • Packing for Spring Break!

Spring Break is almost here! Well for us in New England anyways! After what seemed to be a long (LONG) winter I am excited to take off for a few days and get a little Vitamin D! I have been giving my closet (well, house too) a major overhaul and I am finding so much of my clothing for warmer temps is the wrong size, out of style or just plain tired. I have been hunting for a few new things to add to my warm weather gear while I pack for Spring Break! I have added some work out gear (just in case, also good for that plane ride!),…

  • Bermuda

I will be honest. I put off writing this travel post for my beloved island of Bermuda. It was actually my brother Thad’s idea to incorporate more travel posts into A Modern Housewife’s space… specifically Bermuda as it was the first place he suggested I write about over a year ago. I’ve actually had a draft for “Bermuda” sitting for a year. Thad was a travel agent way back in the day before he went to graduate school for architecture. If you needed a trip planned, information on the best restaurant, what the most kid friendly spot was, ideas for an adventure, he had you covered. He was the…

  • A Week Out West

We headed out to California for Christmas break for a change of scenery this year. My other brother and his family live in Marin County (north of San Francisco) and it was the perfect choice. What to do for Christmas week in Marin County, CA? Well most of this is what to do for any week in Marin County… but there is one very special Christmas stop we went to in San Francisco that I highly recommend! What I love about being out West is the emphasis that is put on being outdoors. The playgrounds and hiking trails are honestly the best. If you have elementary or younger aged kids…
