• One Year Later.

Here I am. September 17th. What a crappy day of which to be reminded. It has been 365 days since I lost my brother. Which means it has been 366 days since I have spoken to him and 373 days since I have given him a hug. Surreal. People keep asking how I am, which is so lovely and kind. So here we go. I have learned a lot in 365 days. I am strong. Very, very strong. It doesn’t get easier per se, but the sharp pain of it all softens. I miss him every day. It is, for lack of a better word, weird. I guess the…

  • Back To School…

Summer flew by. But that always happens right? One minute we are celebrating the 4th of July and then all of the sudden it is Labor Day weekend... sigh. We start next week and I am not really prepared... but everyone is still in shorts through the month of September anyways! Below find some cute pieces for kids to start the school year off right, and a little something for the adults too- we want a few new things too, right?

  • Summer of the jumpsuit…

I have been loving jumpsuits since last Fall and I can safely say that they are officially the the easiest outfit of the Summer. Like with a dress, you can put together an outfit in no time; they are so simple to dress up or down. Unlike a dress, you can pretty much do anything in a jumpsuit… run after a small child, easily sit in the grass or the sand and most importantly (at least to me!) you can ride a bike in a jumpsuit! (Okay, maybe I would not ride a bike in #10, but it is my mode of summer transportation most nights!) Cropped, wide leg, prints,…

  • “Burner Juice”

I have loved celery juice now for a little over 9 months. I talked about it here, in this post. I swear to goodness it helps with digestion, clarity, my skin, my hair… which I think is all tied to gut health. I really think it has healed my gut from SIBO. I have read science behind “The Celery Juice Diet” thanks to the Anthony William books and I think it works, maybe it’s mumbo jumbo, but who cares if I feel better, right? So I have been strict, per Anthony William, about drinking straight, pure, freshly made celery juice… until we went to LA last week. I had a juice…

  • Packing for Spring Break!

Spring Break is almost here! Well for us in New England anyways! After what seemed to be a long (LONG) winter I am excited to take off for a few days and get a little Vitamin D! I have been giving my closet (well, house too) a major overhaul and I am finding so much of my clothing for warmer temps is the wrong size, out of style or just plain tired. I have been hunting for a few new things to add to my warm weather gear while I pack for Spring Break! I have added some work out gear (just in case, also good for that plane ride!),…

  • Morning Glory Muffins

There is a place in RI called Allie’s Donuts… they make the BEST Morning Glory muffins I have ever had. When I was a teenager in the summer my mom used to bring me one every Monday morning when she stopped on her way back from dropping my dad off at the airport. It was chewy, sweet, hearty, sort of earthy and felt healthy. Perhaps my first foray into “health food”… I loved them and I wasn’t even a raisin person! Looking back they probably were not all that healthy but I digress. I thought of them the other day and figured I must be able to make my own…

  • February Favorites…

February can be a cold bleak month… especially in the Northeast. Thankfully it’s short… and thankfully we were in Bermuda for a week of it. So February, you really weren’t so bad! Below find my favorites from this month! (Click on the link for the coordinating number to shop item!) Iota The Great Big Game in The Teeny-Weeny Tin – This is such a fun little game! Similar to Rummykub, a family favorite, and so easy to tuck in your bag for travel. The tin really is teeny! We played this all week in Bermuda; from age 4 to 77! Athleta High Neck Tie Back Tankini– Bathing Suits are hard……

  • Heart Health

Okay… serious topic time. February is Heart Health month. So let’s talk about it. Heart health is important to me… if you look at the picture above it is my Dad’s side of the family in the 80’s. My grandfather had a triple bypass and then a stent put in. My cousin, Lindsay (the beautiful bride), had a heart attack caused by SCAD which she survived two years ago. Pictured below is my maternal grandfather who died of a heart attack when he was 75. My father-in-law also had a stent and triple bypass surgery a few years back. And, most recently, I lost my brother, my best friend, this…

  • Cutting The Cord…

Cable. Do you still have it? This seems to be a constant conversation on the local moms’ message boards around here and even came up the other night at a dinner out with friends. It is just so expensive. Do we really need it? Do you really watch all those channels? The answer is no. The NY Times just recently had an article referencing how much of an energy draw those cable DVR boxes are. Seriously, they suck more energy than one can imagine. In 2011 it was reported that “a single DVR unit chewed through as much as 275 kilowatt-hours per year, more than half as much as some Energy…
