Well, the cold weather has finally arrived in the Northeast and it’s FRIGID! It seemed like a warm winter coat round up was a great post for this week! Some awesome picks in all different price ranges. I am particularly fond of #7, #9 & #11! Stay warm, friends! Please note: A Modern Housewife LLC has affiliate relationships with multiple brands. • What To Wear For Thanksgiving 2019

Thanksgiving is a little over two weeks away! Do you know what you are wearing? I don’t! We are headed to my in-laws this year and despite my propensity to over plan and pack (way) ahead I can barely wrap my head around Thanksgiving being in 2 weeks! I love dressing up a bit for the holiday. We always used to when I was little and it seems like putting on your best clothes honors what a special day it is. Gathering with friends and family, taking a breath and taking note of how much you have to be grateful and thankful for. So here are some ideas of what…

  • Fall Fashion: Leather (Real & Faux)

While not exactly a new trend, leather is EVERYWHERE and I am in to it! I have been trying to find a pair of leather leggings… do I bite the (very big dollar) bullet and go real or find a great pair of faux… or as I am seeing everywhere “Vegan Leather”. That makes me chuckle for some reason. Upgraded from faux leather? But, it doesn’t stop at just leggings, leather is finding it’s way to t-shirts, skirts, puffer coats (I have one- swoon!), work-out gear, accessories and of course embellishments. Here are some of the items I wouldn’t mind adding to my closet below. (And, yes… there is a…

  • What To Watch…

Okay, it is finally chilly here! What does that mean? Lots of evenings hunkered down on the couch and binge watching TV… I’m not complaining! Here is our list for Fall TV! Happy viewing! (We stream everything on our Roku… if you are thinking about “cutting the cord” on cable read this post!)   New this Fall… The Affair – Final Season (Showtime- Hulu) – This show is finally answering all the questions in it’s 5th season. If you haven’t watched it at all, its worth it. It gets a little weird sometimes in the middle seasons but it’s well done! Kominsky Method (Netflix) – Second season of this just…

  • October Favorites…

Happy Halloween! October favorites are here! I think it is because it has been so warm but it still doesn’t really feel like Fall here… I can’t believe tomorrow is November! Yet again this seems to be a list of a lot of books… maybe I should be doing a separate book list! Reading all the time this month! Click on corresponding number to shop item! • The Best Little Knit Blazer Styled 3 Ways

I purchased this little J Crew knit blazer this Spring and adore it! It seems to go with everything, is light enough that I don’t get hot but it also keeps me warm on chilly days. The original pink that I have is sold out in a few sizes but the camel is a great option and available in sizes xxxs-3x; so I will use that color to style the blazer into three different outfits! • Tuscan Kale Soup

So here is my version of Tuscan Soup. I feel like it is all over Pinterest and Instagram right now so I wanted to try my own version of it. Paleo Tuscan Soup… in the Instant Pot! I went the route of making my own sausage (sort of) but you could for sure use store bought (raw) Italian sausage, chicken, turkey or pork, if you don’t have the Primal Palate spices. BUT GET THE SPICES! They are amazing and I also use them in my simple Pork Ragu recipe!  It is SO easy! Tuscan Kale Soup Ingredients: 2 Tablespoons of olive oil 1 Sweet onion chopped 4 Garlic cloves minced…

  • Cocktails: Habanero Harvest

A warming, spiced and spicy cocktail, sign me up! A simple syrup made with classic Fall flavors and a habanero gives you an earthy and spicy base for this fun Fall drink. Halloween parties, Thanksgiving gathering… or just a Friday night! I went with tequila here because it is my favorite but you could also use mezcal, bourbon, vodka or even a spiced rum! One word of caution, habaneros can be HOT. I first made this allowing the habanero to soak for 15 minutes… good but very spicy. I went back and reduced the time to 5 minutes, but if you like it hot adjust accordingly! The syrup would also…

  • The Most Comfortable Jumpsuit EVER Styled 3 Ways…

This jumpsuit was such a happy little surprise! I went into Lou and Gray for sweatpants (also awesome) and this jumpsuit was in the dressing room so I HAD to try it on. You guys… it is FLEECE on the inside. Talk about the most comfortable thing EVER. It is so adorable and flattering and can be styled so many ways! It all starts with this Lou & Gray Plush Crossover Jumpsuit!   Perfect daytime look for running all the errands, lunch out or heading to the office.   Gap Denim Jacket – A total classic. Since the jumpsuit is fleece on the inside you only need a light layer. J/Slides…

  • Baked French Toast (Gluten Free)

This recipe all started because I felt insanely wasteful throwing away the heels of a loaf of bread (usually 4 pieces!) because no one would eat them. The end of a gluten free sandwich loaf if not like scoring the end of a French baguette after all (yes, I miss a French baguette!). So I started saving the heels in the freezer… what could I make? A baked French toast seemed perfect! Honestly, you can just buy a loaf and use that… but I am saving my heels for this recipe! This recipe is written for gluten free bread which absorbs liquid differently than traditional wheat bread, if you want…
